The Cancer and Serious Illness Support Service

We are here to provide information, support and comfort for those with a recent cancer or serious illness diagnosis and continue that support through treatment to remission, or through the progression of the illness.

Working closely with local GPs

Campden Home Nursing works closely with multiple surgeries across the region we serve, reaching out to patients and offering psychological support through one to one appointments and support groups. We also work closely with Freestyle 360 gym to provide fitness, well-being and nutritional advice in preparation for treatment or post-surgery.

Cancer accounts for the majority of the patients we care for. However, we are also here to support anyone with a life limiting diagnosis.

The service provides:

Living Well at Jecca’s House

At Jecca’s House, we will help you to live well by helping you to find ways to enhance your wellbeing, which we hope, in turn, will enable you to live your life in a happier, more fulfilling way.

We aim to offer a ‘home from home’ comfortable environment where those with a cancer diagnosis or serious illness can come for help, support and a listening ear. Most importantly, our staff will look after the patient, their carers and families and will be open to anyone in the local vicinity. Please see a map of the area we cover.

How our services can help patients and carers:

  • Monitoring and managing unstable symptoms
  • Guidance on coping with stress and anxiety
  • Advice on issues such as strength, balance, mobility and tiredness
  • Tips on diet, taste changes and weight gain/loss
  • Complementary therapy, meditation and emotional health therapies
  • Helping you to explore your creative side and nurture your talents
  • Teaching relaxation techniques
  • Guidance on advance care planning
  • Providing information, advice and support for patients, families and carers
  • A place to meet others and make supportive friendships

Jecca’s House accommodates offices on the top floor, as well as a Bereavement Room for counselling. Additionally, downstairs, there is a large drop in kitchen for initial meetings and chats over tea and cake. Furthermore, a Resource room is packed with literature and information on any cancer or other issue that a patient may need. In addition, an Activity Room is fully stocked with arts and crafts resources. This is a place where support groups can meet and participate in diversional therapies. The Day Room will give carers a place to enjoy some respite.

Please see here for our timetable of activities and meetings

Tributes. Leave a tribute to a loved one

“I am in remission from Cancer at the moment but am still being contacted regarding my welfare. If I become ill again I know I will be surrounded by care in the community at its best.”

“I feel the level of care I receive could not be improved on. I feel that I am in the best hands which tells me that the service meets all of its objectives. Without being well lead it could not be effective, or responsive which would in turn impact the care and support given.”

If you have recently been diagnosed with cancer, a life limiting illness or are struggling post treatment or surgery, then feel free to get in touch independently if you feel we can be of any help.  If you have any questions, please call 01386 840505 or email info@campdenhomenursing.org.
