They can provide support for the family as well as the patient to help them through a difficult time offering a service day or night to help ease the pressure placed on the family or carers of the patient. Our nurses work in close partnership with the patient’s primary care team, their General Practitioners and District Nurses and we see ourselves as complimentary and supportive to other.
Most of our work is carried out during night shifts between the hours of 10pm and 7am often to give the family or carers some much needed sleep knowing that their loved ones are in safe hands. We can also nurse during the day and can be available for respite breaks to give carers the opportunity to do every day errands, keep appointments or even just have a couple of hours ‘me time’.
The palliative care that we provide is a nursing care service for patients where curative medicine has ceased to work, and we focus on the treatment of pain and other symptoms associated with a terminal illness with the end goal of giving the patient the best quality of life while they choose to remain at home. There is no set period or time for nursing a patient as all cases are individual and will be managed according to need.
Referrals for nursing come from many sources, predominantly from a patients GP or District Nurse however patient’s family or carers can refer directly to Campden Home Nursing. Our Nurse Manager will then liaise with the patient’s primary carers to co-ordinate a nursing plan.
