November Update by Campden Home Nursing

The People Who Make It All Possible.

During the year, we’ve shared stories about the work of our nurses, counsellors, play therapists, volunteers, trustees and our charity shop. But how many people are behind it?

  • Hospice at home nursing: Our Hospice at Home nursing service has 21 team members: 18 Registered Nurses and three Healthcare Assistants. Together, our nursing team has over 600 years of registered nursing experience! Each year we receive over 200 end of life care referrals. We provide nearly 9,000 hours of nursing care, free of charge, supporting patients and their families from 12 GP practices.
  • Bereavement counselling and therapeutic play: Our two accredited counsellors (BACP) provide one-to-one bereavement support to more than 60 adults. Our three accredited practitioners (PTUK) provide therapeutic play for children experiencing grief and loss, supporting more than 40 children annually.
  • Wellbeing and community support: Our busy programme of wellbeing activities brings people together and is mainly volunteer led. The sessions offer friendship, connection and support, particularly for those experiencing loneliness, isolation or bereavement.
  • Charity shop: Our much-loved ‘destination’ shop in town contributes nearly a third of our income. Keeping our doors open six days a week takes 20 dedicated shop volunteers, supported by volunteer and paid supervisors and our shop manager.

A small team making a big difference

Behind all these services is a small dedicated team, nearly all working part-time. Their roles amount to just six full-time equivalent staff, covering general management, finance, fundraising, communications, house management and charity shop management.

None of this would be possible without our extraordinary volunteers. 24 regular volunteers support fundraising and wellbeing. Nine volunteer trustees provide guidance and oversight. Including our 20 shop volunteers, that’s 53 volunteers giving time, skills and energy!

Sending heartfelt thank yous to everyone involved. There are too many to name individually, but each person makes a difference. Together, our staff, volunteers, supporters and donors help ensure local people receive compassionate, professional care and support.
