Aims and Objectives

Campden Home Nursing CIO was established in 1990. Our main objective is to provide palliative nursing care for the terminally ill who wish to be cared for at home, in their last weeks of life. We are proud to provide professional, specialist nursing care ensuring maintenance of pain relief and other symptom control working alongside District Nurses and other medical teams. We see ourselves as a supplementary and complementary support to the District Nursing service and other teams involved with a patient’s care.

The service is offered to anyone living within our defined geographical area and we cover areas of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Our nursing team consists of approximately 20 Registered Nurses, all with a special interest in palliative care. They are chosen for their aptitude and skill in this specific area of work. We also employ a small number of Senior Nursing Assistants who, under the supervision of the Nurse Managers, provide support to our patients.

Our other aims are to provide Bereavement Counselling Services Services with the provision of support groups, individual teen and adult counselling and Play Therapy for 3-11-year olds.

We also provide complementary therapies for patients and their carers.

We aim to provide the highest standard or care and support to as many families as possible within our geographic area and in 2020 opened a Cancer Support Service, we now have a building that is up and running as a ‘living well centre’ providing end of life support to anyone touched by a terminal illness.

How referrals are made

Referrals may be made by a patient’s General Practitioner or District Nurse Team/self-referral /family/carer/friend.

Our Nursing Co-ordinators, after discussion with the District Nurse, visit the patient and family to discuss with them the extra nursing care that they need and inform them of our service.

Our nurses work in partnership with the patient’s GP and District Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
