Campden Home Nursing CIO was established in 1990. Our main objective is to provide palliative nursing care for the terminally ill who wish to be cared for at home, in their last weeks of life. We are proud to provide professional, specialist nursing care ensuring maintenance of pain relief and other symptom control working alongside District Nurses and other medical teams. We see ourselves as a supplementary and complementary support to the District Nursing service and other teams involved with a patient’s care.
The service is offered to anyone living within our defined geographical area and we cover areas of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Our nursing team consists of approximately 20 Registered Nurses, all with a special interest in palliative care. They are chosen for their aptitude and skill in this specific area of work. We also employ a small number of Senior Nursing Assistants who, under the supervision of the Nurse Managers, provide support to our patients.
In 2020, we opened a Serious Illness Support Service. Here, we aim to provide information, support and comfort for those with a recent cancer or serious illness diagnosis and continue that support through treatment to remission, or through the progression of the illness. At our base at Jecca’s House, our aim is to help patients, their families and carers, live well with an advanced or terminal illness, by guiding them on how to manage the impact of their illness, cope with changes, improve wellbeing and remain as independent as possible.
We also provide Bereavement Counselling Services Services, in our counselling cabin based in the grounds of Jecca’s House. The services include the provision of support groups, individual teen and adult counselling and Play Therapy for 3-11-year olds.
We also provide complementary therapies for patients and their carers.
We aim to provide the highest standard or care and support to as many families as possible within our geographic area.
Referrals may be made by a patient’s General Practitioner or District Nurse Team/self-referral /family/carer/friend.
Our Nursing Co-ordinators, after discussion with the District Nurse, visit the patient and family to discuss with them the extra nursing care that they need and inform them of our service.
Our nurses work in partnership with the patient’s GP and District Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
Campden Home Nursing CIO is controlled and managed by a board of Trustees.
Dr Irene Henry is Chair of Trustees and Sarah Roberts is Co-Chair and Treasurer.
The day-to-day running of the charity is the responsibility of Helen Makaritis the CEO. Helen is also the Nominated Individual for CQC.
