Statement of Intent As a local charity supporting our community, we are committed to adopting sustainable practices across our operations.

Our Commitment To actively review and improve our environmental practices to minimise waste, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainability in a financially responsible manner.

Key Actions

1. Environmental Audit Annually audit to assess and improve our impact, including:

    • Use of eco-friendly products
    • Paper and office supply consumption
    • Energy and water efficiency
    • Waste management and recycling performance

    2. Sustainable Procurement Prioritise environmentally responsible and local suppliers and products to achieve wider community benefits:

    • Eco-friendly cleaning products and washing-up tablets
    • Recycled paper and sustainable office supplies
    • Energy-efficient appliances and lighting solutions

    3. Waste Reduction & Recycling Actively reduce waste:

    • Minimising single-use plastics and unnecessary packaging.
    • Improving recycling systems, including food waste disposal.
    • Encouraging staff and volunteers to adopt sustainable waste practices.

    4. Energy & Water Efficiency Take steps to lower energy and water consumption:

    • Exploring renewable energy options where feasible.
    • Monitoring heating and water usage to improve efficiency.

    5. Staff & Volunteer Engagement Build a culture of environmental responsibility:

    • Incorporate sustainability into staff inductions, team newsletter
    • Encourage team members to propose and implement eco-friendly improvements

    6. Financial Responsibility: Review investments to ensure alignment with our values.

    Monitor & Review Report our progress in an annual impact statement. The Board of Trustees will review this policy annually. An appointed Environmental Lead will oversee implementation and continuous improvement.

    This policy was signed off by the Trustees of the charity and was adopted by the charity in March 2025.
