This month, we are focusing on Diane Mason, a member of staff and volunteer.
One Person Can Make a Big Difference
Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are those whose own lives have been touched by kindness. Diane Mason, a much-loved volunteer, member of staff and passionate supporter of Campden Home Nursing, was one of those people. Diane died on 3 July at Myton Hospice following a short illness.
In June 2020, during the Covid pandemic, Campden Home Nursing had the privilege of caring for Diane’s husband, Bob, at the end of his life, enabling him to remain at home with his family.
Diane received bereavement counselling and later came to our Bereavement Café. There she found new friendships and understanding. The support Bob, Diane and her family received inspired her to give something back.
What followed was years of extraordinary commitment. Diane became one of Campden Home Nursing’s most dedicated volunteers and fundraisers. She continued to volunteer for us as well as joining the team in various roles.
Many will remember Diane in her jolly yellow wellies, tending the gardens at Jecca’s House and helping establish the wildflower meadow of which she was so proud. Others will remember her warm welcome on reception, her popular relaxation classes, her determined fundraising or the practical support she gave to families arriving from Ukraine.
Whatever she turned her hand to, Diane gave it her all. She organised fundraisers such as ‘Bob’s Bowl’ in memory of her late husband, ran tombolas, volunteered on stalls, collected prizes for our Big Christmas Raffle and every year she sold more raffle tickets than anyone else! Diane was passionate about fundraising and equally passionate that every donated pound must be spent wisely. She became a familiar face across our website, brochures and social media.
Diane had a generous heart, deep compassion and a remarkable ability to bring people together. Her kindness and devotion to Campden Home Nursing rippled out into every corner of the charity.
Diane’s story reminds us that kindness has a way of coming full circle. The support she and her family received during one of the most difficult times in their lives inspired her to spend the years that followed supporting others.
Her legacy lives on in the wildflower meadow she helped create, the Gardening Group and Relaxation Group she nurtured, the friendships she built and the countless lives she touched.
She was, quite simply, a force for good.
Our thoughts remain with Diane’s family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wellbeing Activities continue at Jecca’s House, including the monthly Dementia Friendly Café (third Thursday, 2 – 4 pm), Caring Afternoon Tea (first Wednesday, 2 – 4 pm)and Bereavement Café (second Friday, 10 – 11:30 am). See the timetable on our website.
Charity Shop Our Pre-Loved Pop-Up Ladies’ Sale at the Town Hall was a great success, thank you for your support.
