October Update by Campden Home Nursing

Grief is deeply personal

There is no right way to grieve.

It does not follow a timetable, and there is no single way someone should feel after a death.

Bereavement can bring many different feelings, including sadness, anger, guilt, shock and numbness.

There is no right or wrong way to feel. At times, having a safe space to talk can help.

We offer one-to-one bereavement counselling, providing a confidential, supportive space to talk about grief and loss. Counselling takes place in person at our base in Chipping Campden. Regular therapeutic play support is also given to bereaved children aged four to 13.

One person who received bereavement counselling from us recently has said:

“I was referred to Campden Home Nursing by my GP after experiencing several significant losses.

“I needed a space where I could talk openly about my grief with someone outside of my family.

“From my first session, I felt accepted, listened to and validated. I never felt judged or that there was a right or wrong way to grieve.

“I’m grateful for the support I received from Campden Home Nursing. It provided a consistent source of support when I needed it.”

“Having someone who understood the complexity of grief gave me the opportunity to reflect on what I was going through in a safe and supportive environment. The counselling helped me to process my experiences at my own pace. My sessions were approached with kindness, empathy and professionalism.

To refer yourself, please email bereavement@campdehomenursing.com or leave a voicemail on 07821 114696. Include your name and contact details. You will hear from us within five working days. Cathy will organise a call with you for an initial chat. She will then be in touch about a start date which could be around three months later. Research shows counselling is most effective at least three months after the bereavement.

Bereavement Café

Every month, people are welcome to join us for informal support at our Bereavement Café.

It is a quiet and welcoming space to share experiences, meet others who are grieving and build new connections. Some people attend regularly, some drop in when they can, while others use the café as a gentle first step towards meeting others. Led by our volunteers in Chipping Campden at our base, Jecca’s House, the café takes place on the second Friday of each month, from 10 – 11:30 am. This month, it is on Friday 9 October. There is no need to book. If you prefer, you can let us know you are coming so that we can look out for you.
