I was invited to join a group of old friends and colleagues who had run the London Marathon 25 years before in 1988 when we had raised a large sum of money for Great Ormond Street. The mission this time was to cycle John O’ Groats to Land’s End. Our fundraising was for two national charities and eighteen causes selected by the individual riders – I chose Campden Home Nursing. Our adventure started in mid May 2013 and we cycled on average 100 miles a day and a total of 997 miles. The ride was comfortable and blessed with good weather the scenery was spectacular, particularly the West Coast of Scotland, although cycling over Dartmoor in a Force 8 was scary and exhausting. I enjoyed the experience enormously, had great support from my family throughout the training and raised £4353 For CHN.
