It has been a busy and memorable summer at Campden Home Nursing for our nursing team, with fundraising, creative workshops and community activities. It has also brought very special news: we are over the moon to welcome Chipping Campden resident Melissa Grossman as the charity’s new Patron.
Melissa is an actress and screenwriter, also known professionally as Melissa Knatchbull, whose credits include Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Mission Impossible. Her commitment to hospice care at home is deeply personal. When her mother was dying, support from hospice at home nurses brought Melissa and her family much-needed reassurance and relief.
“I am honoured to become Patron of Campden Home Nursing,” Melissa said. “I am committed to helping ensure more families can have that choice.”
As Patron, Melissa will help raise awareness, support fundraising and encourage others to protect Jecca Brook’s remarkable legacy.
There has been plenty to celebrate across the summer. At The Vale Golf & Country Club, 106 golfers took part in the Seniors Open, helping take the total raised through this year’s competitions to an amazing £3,100. Still Life in Acrylics, block printing with Mooch, and cushion-making workshops have also brought people together while raising funds. Every paintbrush, stitch and golf swing makes a difference.
At Campden Home Nursing, Jecca’s House, our community support & wellbeing centre, activities have continued throughout the summer. The Dementia Friendly Café meets on the third Thursday of each month from 2 – 4 pm, offering family carers a welcoming place for conversation and support. The monthly Caring Lunch has also kept the kitchen busy, thanks to volunteer Jill, who single-handedly prepared and cooked the meal. No small feat, and greatly appreciated.
This summer also brought sadness as we celebrated the life of our much-loved employee, volunteer and friend, Diane Mason.
Our charity shop has been bustling, supported by fantastic donations and generous customers. It has been especially lovely to see so many children joining the summer treasure hunt. The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 4:30 pm.
Behind all this activity is the reason Campden Home Nursing exists. Our nursing team has been busy providing compassionate hospice care in the comfort of people’s own homes, free of charge. Thank you to everyone who has made this such a memorable summer.
