At the beginning of February, we were delighted to open the doors once again to the wonderful volunteers who help us at Jecca’s House. Thank you to everyone who lends a hand here, we are really grateful for your support.

Support Groups

Our support groups are proving to be a lifeline for patients and carers affected by a life-limiting illness. We hold weekly art, craft, gardening, relaxation and walking groups, as well as our community space, Men (and Ladies) in Shed. Watch this space for new groups coming in April and May.

We are adding a regular coffee morning to our timetable, every 3rd Monday of the month. The first one will take place on 18 March from 10 am-12.00 pm. This is for anyone who would like to learn more about what we do at Jecca’s House. We’d be pleased to show you around and talk to you about how we can help you or anyone you know who is suffering from a life-limiting illness.

We are changing our regular Carer’s Lunch to every second Friday of the month now, So, the next one will take place Friday 11 March, 12.30-2.30 pm.

If anyone is interested in coming to any of the above-mentioned groups of lunches, please call Ali on 01386 840505 to book a seat. There is also more information on the website www.campdenhomenursing.org.

Jecca’s Joggers

Our team of four brave nurses are training hard for the Hampton Court Half Marathon on 20th March 2022. Heather Barley, our Head of Nursing Services, Dawn Hetherington, Michelle Allen and Esther Newman will be raising money for Campden Home Nursing.

Michelle Allen, Cancer Support Nurse, said: “I was a complete novice runner. I took up the couch to 5km in September last year, after having recovered from covid, using it as a means to ‘sorting out my head.’ The first few runs were so difficult I thought I’d never get to run more than 30 seconds but the programme is amazing and before I knew it, I graduated and was able to run 5km in 30 minutes.

“So what was my next challenge? My colleagues said doing a half marathon would be fun… all I had to do was build up my runs…but I didn’t encounter such awful training conditions… freezing cold, wind, and rain, but I keep reminding myself it’s fun! I look forward to passing the finish line, because this will be such an amazing experience, and all for a great cause, so please help if you can!”
