October’s News

On Saturday 11 September we officially opened our new Cancer Support Service for our surgeries in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire. The new service is based at Jecca’s House, which also houses the charity’s hospice at home nursing services team and bereavement support services.

Jecca’s House and the new Cancer Support Service was officially opened by our Chair of Trustees Dr Irene Henry and David Brook, husband of the late Jecca Brook, who founded Campden Home Nursing 31 years ago.

It was a wonderful day; around 200 visitors enjoyed tea and cake and a tour of Jecca’s House. We were bowled over by the support we received – thank you to everyone who made this a very special day.

We are very excited to be offering a full program of support groups which will form a source of comfort and community for people in similar situations, enabling them to share experiences, ask questions or simply to have a chat and explore new hobbies. Please spread the word to those who may need our service. Examples of the groups running are: Art Group (Monday 10.30am-12.30am)  our Knit and Natter (Thursday 2.30pm-4.30pm) and Carers Lunch 12.30pm-2.30pm every third Friday). Please take a look at the timetable and if you or anyone you know is bereaved, has a life limiting illness or is caring for someone with a life limiting illness, then please contact Ali, our Centre Manager on: 01386 840505.

Christmas is coming!

Following the success of last year’s Christmas Card Competition, we are delighted to be running it again with Chipping Campden School. We aim to get these printed by the end of October and they will be for sale online on our website and in our charity shop. All profits are split between Campden Home Nursing and the Performing Arts Centre development at the school.

Thank you to…

Our thanks to Lower Clopton Farm shop who extended their Pick Your Own Sunflower service to throughout September. At the last count, the donations have raised £1000 for Campden Home Nursing.

Quiz Night at The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, 3rd October, 6pm

We don’t need an excuse for a good get together, but if we did here’s a good one! We will be celebrating with four runners who will have completed the Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October.

So, join us to say ‘thank you’ to these three brave athletes and let’s celebrate with a quiz, a pizza and a pint.

Create a team of 4 and let us know which one of The Fleece Inn’s famous woodfire pizzas you’d like (you will be asked when you book).
